| The website in 2008... | ...2010... | ...2011... | ...and as it is now. |
The Robo-Lions website has gone through many changes since its birth in 2007. At first, the website was nothing more than a collection of static HTML pages. But then, the team acquired the skills of a series of talented student web developers, and the website took off from there. Up until the start of the 2012 FRC build season, the website was running a custom, student-produced content management system.
After experimenting with Wordpress, Drupal, and Joomla!, the website team settled on Joomla!, deciding that its extensive documentation, expansive plugin library, large user base, and great support were just what the website needed. Wordpress was far too simplistic and Drupal was far too complicated; Joomla! was a perfect compromise between the two.
The front-end of the website uses a custom, student-made template. The website's private section, for simplicity's sake, uses the built-in, minimalistic Atomic theme. The team blog is powered by the K2 extension, the photo galleries by the sigplus plugin, the main dropdown menu by DJ-Menu, and the slideshow on the homepage by Auston Skitter Slideshow.
